Selling subscription plans to your customers
Memberships, coffee clubs, weekly bread. Sell recurring plans through Rowie.
Rowie's vendor subscriptions module lets you sell recurring plans to your customers: a wine club, a coffee subscription, a gym membership, a monthly bread delivery. Customers buy at rowie.io/subscribe/[slug], and Stripe handles the recurring billing.
Not to be confused with your Rowie subscription (Starter / Pro), which is what you pay Rowie. Vendor subscriptions are what your customers pay you.
Subscriptions are a Pro feature. You also need a connected Stripe account (Banking set up, charges enabled). Free vendors see an Upgrade to Pro prompt instead of the tabs. Pro vendors without Stripe connected see the setup card with the Connect Stripe action. See Sign up and connect Stripe.
Create a plan
- Vendor portal → Subscriptions in the sidebar (under SELL).
- The page has three tabs: Plans, Subscribers, and Settings. It opens on Plans.
- The top-right action is + New Plan (only visible on the Plans tab). If you have no plans yet, the body shows an empty state with the same call to action.
- Fill in the Plan modal:
- Plan Name (required).
- Description. Rich text. Shown on the public plan card.
- Plan Image. Optional cover image.
- Price (required). In your org currency.
- Billing Interval. Weekly, Monthly, or Yearly. Drives Stripe's recurring billing cadence.
- Features. A bulleted list shown on the public plan card. Type each item and press Enter or the + icon.
- Trial Days. Free days before billing starts (set to 0 for no trial).
- Subscriber Limit. Leave blank for unlimited.
- Toggle the plan Active to make it visible on the public subscription page. Deactivate hides it without deleting.
You can have multiple plans per organisation. A common pattern is a tiered structure (Basic / Premium / VIP). Changing Price or Billing Interval on an existing plan creates a new price in Stripe, and existing subscribers are updated at their next renewal. You'll see an inline warning in the modal when that's about to happen.
Plans with active subscribers can't be deleted. Deactivate them instead.
Subscription page (Settings tab)
The Settings tab on the Subscriptions page controls your public subscription page:
- Enable Subscription Page. Toggle the public page on or off.
- URL Slug.
rowie.io/subscribe/your-slug. Generate auto-creates one from your business name. - Page Title and Page Description.
- Cancellation Policy. Shown to customers before they subscribe.
- Brand Color. Accent color on the public page. Defaults to your org's brand color.
- A QR Code you can download as PNG and a Copy Link button.
Save changes to regenerate the QR code.
What customers see and sign up
- Customer lands on
rowie.io/subscribe/your-slug. - Browses your active plans (cards with name, description, features, price, interval).
- Picks a plan, then Stripe Checkout (card details, optional trial).
- After confirmation: success page with subscription details and a magic-link to manage their subscription.
- Stripe charges them on the interval automatically.
Managing subscribers
The Subscribers tab lists every subscriber with their status: Active, Trialing, Past Due, Canceled, Unpaid, Paused. Stats at top: Active Subscribers, Monthly Revenue, New This Month, Canceled This Month.
Click a subscriber to see:
- Customer. Name, email, contact.
- Subscription. Plan, current period end, trial end, total paid, payment count, subscribed-since date.
- Payment History. Every charge with amount, period, and status.
- Cancel Subscription. Stops the recurring charge at the end of the current billing period (Stripe handles the proration).
Cancellations are end-of-period by default, so the customer keeps access until the date they've already paid through.
Customer self-service
The confirmation email links to a magic-link manage page at rowie.io/subscribe/your-slug/manage where customers can update their payment method or cancel themselves. No Rowie account needed.
Refunds
A subscription refund is just a charge refund. Open the specific charge in the subscriber's payment history and refund the same way as any order. Stopping future charges is the Cancel Subscription flow above.
